Whitney Museum Invitation
GRAPHIC DESIGN TYPOGRAPHY SILKSCREEN

I was to create a printed invitation for the opening of Whitney Museum's "An Incomplete History of Protest" exhibition. I was inspired by one of the installation pieces in the exhibition, “Pyramid Up”, by Melvin Edwards. I decided to replicate a mini version of this installation so the recipient can have a little preview of the actual exhibition in their hands. I used silver threads to recreate the barbed wire of the original piece.

I created an alternate version of invitation that is more interactive. I silkscreened the main image of the exhibition, "Black Mass" by Annette Lemieux, on clear plastic with transparent ink. I made several switchable inside pages outlining the topics of the exhibition; war, sexism, and racism.
